What water purifier do you use? The 2 most popular brands are Eureka and Kent, but I’ve heard horrible things about the service and maintenance costs for both of them. Was planning to order it today from the Amazon sale, but now I’m really confused and can’t decide on a brand/model

Eureka & PureIt in Pune. (UV based / non RO) Both have good service in Pune. Eureka service is substantially better. If your water is not hard, RO is probably not required and is more cost effective.

What’s your annual maintenance cost @loud-glass-33663?

@melodic-jordan-81418 PureIt didn’t have an AMC. We called them on demand if stuff broke or the filters needed to be changed. This was a while ago - so around 700 bucks to 1K / year for visit + parts. We now have Eureka Forbes which sells you a 2 - 3 year plan (1 visit / 6 months) and they are good. They call and come, change filters, fix stuff that is broken, etc. I just paid them last month. It was exactly 4,325 for 2 years. So almost 1K / visit or 2K / year. I think you can skip this and call them on demand if you don’t have an RO system because I think RO systems need more maintenance.

Thanks for the deets @loud-glass-33663! I think I can opt for UV-only since I have a soft water tap in my kitchen. The maintenance for UV+RO seems to be in the ballpark of 4-5k/y and doesn’t seem much beneficial compared to UV

yea you’d need RO (and maybe TDS control) if your water source is borewell, etc. If you have soft water source, that’s the best, and UV is enough.
