How valid is this or is it usual LinkedIn nonsense...

As in, is it JUST because of wearing noise cancelling or some other health factors in play

I got tinnitus from the installer music of a pirated game. Your brain gets used to it, it's not that bad for me but I would prefer not to have it. I only notice it when someone mentions it. It is very loud for me mind you, my brain developed a high pass filter or something

Not from "noise canceling" headphones but any headphones. I had onset of similar issues recently and left wearing headphones. I wrote about it here: https://shantanugoel.com/2021/08/23/headphones/
After I posted this, I've heard back from several people that they face similar problems and many have had varying degrees of hearing loss.

Thanks for sharing @creamy-sundown-74328 - the original post makes it seem like just wearing noise cancelling to be in a silent environment was the cause...would you say it's due to loud music/noise usage for long?
c
I felt it even without loud music. I think it's a combination of both loud sounds and constant pressure.

@creamy-sundown-74328 I feel a light pain in my inner ears when I wear my airpods pro ( I usually wear them for 5+ hours per day, without music). Cause for concern?
c
It depends, but generally i'd say it could be a problem since your usage is long. Especially get a baseline check done with a doctor at least in case you are not able to reduce your usage of in-ear phones so you can determine over time if your hearing is deteriorating or not. Anecdotally, I'd caution everyone to move away from headphones for prolonged usage in general and in-ear ones in particular. Try the mechanisms I listed in my post and see if they can help you.

I wouldn't wear headphones, however good, for more than a couple of hours at a stretch. Which is why having a good noise-cancelling or even a directional mic is good. You can then get rid of your headphones and use your speakers w/o the echo.
