Hey all, need some really serious advice. I currently hold 2 offers, one a German company (75+lpa) and another is an Indian company (35lpa+) but currently I am feeling like the German company thing won’t go ahead due. to some legal documentation problems I have (passport related issue) so I am thinking of accepting the Indian company’s offer (which does not have a 6 month probation period)… do you guys think I can accept the Indian company’s offer and maybe quit within a month or two if I feel like the germany company issue is resolved and I can move to germany ? I am doing this because I don’t want to loose the indian company oppurtunity because some beurocratic mess by indian govt. for reissue of passport… Please do suggest me if this is perfectly okay to do or would land me in trouble?

Just to clarify, the Indian company doesn’t have a 6 month probabtion period….

In my opinion, that shouldn't be a problem till the time you don't talk about this experience anywhere and also, your rapport with the Indian company that you will join and leave may go for a toss.

No company would think twice about firing employees when they are downsizing (even during tough times such as Covid). So employees shouldn't think twice about jumping ship when they are getting a better deal 🤷‍♂️ Just drop a mail to your potential German employer requesting them to give you a buffer of a month or two for joining? Also regarding the passport issue, is it not possible to choose the taktal option for whatever changes you want in your passport?

What’s the mess with the passport? Is this for moving to Germany? If so remember your expenses will also be higher along with the income

Germany cost of living may b more in Munich but less in Easter side, chk in numbeo before you decide to get some ideas, think long term, 75 lpa is ok to survive but Eu is actually costly

One issue that you should think about is whether your german company will be ok with this arrangement. Because this may show up in your background check.

@agreeable-pager-4428 It’s a matter of chance, I got a choice, I can pick if there’s nothing wrong. @faint-energy-11966 @modern-table-48211 It’s a complex problem, @refined-horse-5681 I think I am payed pretty good for Berlin, and a single person that too so it’s great for me. @creamy-sundown-74328 they are so far fairly supportive but they probably won’t be okay with this new arrangement so I will have to wait it out I think

@happy-teacher-99991 there is nothing wrong with taking any job and quitting. Be selfish with companies as they will be with you. Also, EUR 80-90K is a really good bracket for Berlin. You will enjoy.
@happy-teacher-99991 if you have issues or delays with the visa itself (after your passport issues) then ask your employer for a letter from the Germany Employment Agency. The visa process becomes very smooth. In our company (in Hamburg) we used to get visa (India, Pakistan examples) in 2 weeks.

@wide-carpet-65149 Hello Sumit, yes I have already asked my German employer about this and just signed an amendment to my contract letter to extend my joining date
@wide-carpet-65149 I am also very aware that my Berlin oppurtunity is far more better than my other indian oppurtunity (which is around 35lpa ctc) not just in terms of monatory gains but also culture, travel, food and over all QOL.

@happy-teacher-99991 good then. I am sure you will enjoy. There is a lot to life than just a salary. Travel is like my number 1 thing so I can relate. I mean we are in a "Remote Indian" Slack group for a reason I guess.
