Do you guys use any tool to track your daily hours / timesheets? How do you maintain the details about your daily tasks etc., if at all? My client does have a timesheet tool where I can submit my hours. But I am thinking of maintaining an excel sheet myself with details which might be useful while generating invoices or for any future reference.

I use Toggl Track for active tracking and have Rescue Time installed and running for automatic tracking.

Toggle seems like its paid? How about Clockify? It looks similar and necessary features are free. Edit: Toggl is free as well. I saw a message 30 days remaining and thought its free for only 30 days. But no. It means the premium features are free for initial 30 days. Going to take a look at Toggl. Thanks.

I generally go with the simplest possible (excel spreadsheets). But every now and then, I'll get a client that'll ask me to use their vendor portal to enter the hours (mostly some salesforce plugin).

I use taskwarrior with taskwarrior-tui on top for task tracking, and timewarrior to tracking time. Both are build by the same folks, so it gets easier to manage. If you are terminal person like me, you can give a look.
