Hello everyone, I need some career advice. Recently I got some job offer but just before I got the job offer I accepted a new position (unofficial position) in my current company and now I am not sure if I should let the current company’s manager know that I no longer want to proceed forward with the new position (giving a hopefully believable reason) in hopes of not burning any bridges?

Do you mean promotion? or did you do team change?
h
@rhythmic-monitor-96972 It’s not promotion, basically im volunteering for an organizational restructure process of sorts. I still have my actual job responsibilities that I do in 8 hours. so you can imagine 8 hours of actual job + 2 hours of extra voluntary work that I signed up for to help the company
(it’s a great oppurtunity for me to learn some new skills and make connections with really senior people so)

Okay. Consider both the scenarios and find what's your need and motive for them. You seem to have made the choice to move already. So I'm not sure what you are asking here.
If your motive is pay, talk to your manager.

And what sort of benefits does the new job bring in?

@fresh-analyst-84724 I’ll be out of India 😅

Well, assuming it is something you want to do, it might be best to let the current team know asap. I don't see why being honest is not a good idea here. Aren't your team members going to find out after you move?
