Has anyone filed a chargeback on a credit card in India? I have an ICICI Emeralde credit card. Not sure about the success rate of chargebacks in India.

Multiple times with Amex. 100% results -- merchants just refund the money and it does not even go to an actual chargeback. Once with ICICI (Amazon card) via nobroker -- failed. What do you need to chargeback for? ICICI's CC customer care sucks a bit in this regards. They are more keen only if it has been a fraud charge. You need to push them if it is a denial of service -- especially if something is non tangible like it was for me. Plus, TBH, my NoBroker thingy was a bit meta. Might have been difficult to put my case. Amex is super customer focussed in this regard and is happy to file a dispute no matter what. When we had to cancel an air ticket due to Covid -- they went so far as to get us a 2 year extension from United (United refused to refund). YMMV

Thanks for sharing your experience, @loud-glass-33663. I am filing chargeback against an Amazon order. I told them to cancel my order, but their delivery boy created some confusion and delivered it in my absence. Now they refuse to take it back. Do you think my case stands a chance? On a different note, I should consider getting an Amex. πŸ˜„

@rough-autumn-89795 Hmm.. Seems unlikely. What will happen is that they will file the chargeback, put the amount on hold and 3 months later, send you a message that your dispute has failed and charge you the money back. That is what happened with me. You'd have better luck fixing this with Amazon. Try multiple agents, chat, etc. I am surprised you are having a hard time with a return with Amazon. They have often made policy exceptions for me (for eg: refunded me the money on a return only order, etc). I've just had to ask sweetly / ask them how they are doing / etc. πŸ™‚

So, it is a smartphone order and the return policy clearly states they don’t accept returns for smartphones, even if the package is untouched. They are citing that policy page every time I talk to them, so I am unable to make any progress, haha. Tried Twitter DM, chat and call with Amazon customer support. Will try some more tomorrow, but it looks like I will have to give chargeback a try, maybe I luck out. Thanks for your inputs so far, Saurabh. πŸ™
