Instead of buying laptop with ubuntu I am planning to buy cloud pc with latest ubuntu. Any recommendations? I want to use docker and for programming/testing applications. Is min 2-4gb ram sufficient?

Depends on what you work on @echoing-computer-87366. My work requires 32 Gb RAM at a minimum. But very little happens in under 8 Gb these days if you have a few browser tabs and a code editor open. Can't you change your memory allocation at runtime before instantiating?

If you’re planning to get a VM and connecting it to something like Gitpod, determine your pros and cons based on external factors like internet connectivity, data safety, etc. I’d take a computer I can hold in my hand for development over anything that’s virtual. Besides, monthly cost of running such a high-end VM instance may end up being way more expensive than buying a laptop.

I was all in on codespaces (early adopter), until one day I had to use it from a shitty airtel connection at home. That was a nightmare I hope to never revisit again.
