Anyone using the LG 27 inch UL550 especially with a macbook? Had 2 queries: • reviews suggest the HDMI cable that comes with it only supports 30hz, is that true? • seems like with macbook have to drop the scale and essentially use it at 2k, otherwise everything looks too small on screen? Is that true as well?

I’m using the slightly different model, the one with a different stand, but the same screen - https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07PGL2WVS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I use the bundled HDMI cable with a HDMI to USB-C adapter (https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07THJGZ9Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and 4k and 60 Hz works perfectly fine.
Regarding small text, it feels small initially but once you get sued to it, you’ll love it as it provides a very high data density. No need to run at 2k.
It also depends on how far your eyes will be from the screen. I sit about 2 feet away from the screen and 4k is perfectly fine.

I am using the exact same model I am using a usb c hub which supports 4K @ 30hz via HDMI - it works fine If I use USB C to DP adapter then it works 4K @ 60hz (but I am using HDMI because it is connected to a KVM switch since the setup is shared between my PC and mbp) There are USB C hubs which support 4K @ 60hz via HDMI as well
And there are no scaling issues with the 13" 2020 M1 MBP

@wide-twilight-82330 @clever-salesclerk-88021 got it! Thank you so much ❤️ I will be buying it this weekend 🤞

DO buy it quickly though. That monitor is selling for 29.5k compared to the normal price of 31-32.5k. I’d say go for it now while the price is low.

I've got the same model, I had to experiment with multiple HDMI cables to get 4K@60hz, finally found this to be working. inbuilt cable is useless for 60hz
and then I have been using it at 2K since the 4K feels too small to me

@quaint-farmer-12353 yeah have read similar reviews :( let's see what my luck brings in

You typically use 4K monitor at a scale of 1.5 or 2 to get the best results Basically dump more pixels on the monitor so you get crisp quality The idea of using a 4K monitor is high quality text and images By using it at scale more than 100% (everyone has a comfortable setting- on my PC it is set to 150%) you get better quality graphics If you use a 4k monitor at 4k resolution things will be tiny and you will squint, which defeats the purpose of a bigger and high res monitor.

Using another 27 inch 4k monitor with MBP 2021, I definitely need to scale to 2k to see things normally… It becomes very tiny otherwise.
