What's the perfect at-home cardio exercise equipment you'd recommend? I bought a Cosco air bike last year but it couldn't handle intense workouts as it has a nylon belt that breaks off. Was thinking of buying a Concept2 rowing machine, but 1.25L investment is a bit hard to cough up.

I’m into cycling so use an indoor trainer (https://www.elite-it.com/en/products/home-trainers/interactive-trainers/suito) for training in winters and monsoon. That can be an option if you’re already into cycling and are looking to improve your performance. If only cardio is the goal, then surely you don’t need any equipment. There are loads of cardio workout programs online that you can browser, both free and paid.

@clever-salesclerk-88021 Wow, this looks cool. Are you already using this one?
How's the experience been?
c
Yes, I do use this trainer. It’s very good. Paired with Zwift or Wahoo Systm, you get full access to structured training as well as virtual social rides.
It’s really useful considering you can’t really cycle in the morning in winters (fog) and monsoon.
g
How much does this retail for? cant see the price anywhere
c
It comes around 65-70k locally and is 71k online (https://www.cyclop.in/products/elite-suito-smart-trainer). Just to clarify, you need a bicycle separately with this 🙂
g
Dang, 70k
c
It’s you’r health, your body, your mind you’re investing money in :)
There are other, low cost versions as well, for around 12-15k.
g
Yeah I totally get that. Just looking at options under 20k. If it comes to making such huge investment, I'll buy the concept2 rower, it can last 25+ years unscathed.
This gives you the workout but can’t connect to your computer for interactive workouts.
g
Oh I don't need the interactive workout.

great budget find though

Just search for “bicycle indoor trainer”. There are multiple types of them in a variety of price range. You should be able to find something that suits you best.

What bike would you recommend with the 9k trainer?
I'm new to this indoor bike training. Seems very interesting tbh.
c
Any bicycle works fine. I’d say check your local bike shops, or Decathlon once to get a feel of the thing. You can get a bike that you may use for going to the market or general use and use it with the trainer.

I recommed stationary spin bikes with heavy flywheels. Heavier the better. Cost around 18 k to 25 k INR. Can't recommend the exact model I have as it is unavailable on Amazon.
g
Can they handle super intense workouts?
Is 12kg flywheel good enough?
c
@glamorous-wolf-66966 on a side note, why do you even need equipment for cardio? If the goal is to merely perform cardio, you don’t need any equipment.
g
Because burpees, pushups or mountain climbers don't produce that intensity. Idk I used to do them. But now I wanna lose weight too so looking for a high intensity solution, let's say. For e.g. in just 20 mins of rowing you can be "pukingly exhausted" if you do it right.
c
I see.

Join your local runner's club, that's what I did, we do 5k, 10k runs and occasional half marathons and also 3 days strength training at gym in a week

Additionally, that’s only a zone 3 or 4 workout. You completely miss zone 2 or maybe zone 5, with builds endurance and improves body’s calorie burning efficiency.
g
Ah never heard of that. Is it the same with cycling with an indoor trainer?
c
It’s the same with anything. Google a bit about heart rate zones and how each zone affects your body.
g
Oh okay
c
@glamorous-wolf-66966 Recommend 18 kg flywheel and above for spin bikes.
g
Gotcha
