Any mobile devs out there. Am curious how is this even possible. I don’t use any apps like truecaller. I tried searching about how it is done but could not find solid way how it is done or any leads. Anybody here know this? I get this way in android phones when we get orders from zomato/swiggy/eat fit

Android native phone app supports caller ID since 2018 I think https://support.google.com/phoneapp/answer/3459196?hl=en

I thought there is programmatic implementation from each app on this 🙈

I've never seen this before even though I've tried Google's native caller app. Interesting.

The call screening feature (only on Pixels and available only in North America) is fascinating tbh, too bad we don’t have it here.

Is it only on pixels 😮 i thought its common across android version and phone app
f
Call screening is pixel exclusive.

I get this screen on my Vivo (Android) phone for all calls, I did not install any caller ID app for this. I assumed this is Vivo's own call app. I can block numbers, I get pop ups confirming if a call (or even SMS) was spam and they get blocked from then on if I select Spam. Find it very handy.

A lot of phones use Truecaller in the background for this (you don't need to install Truecaller as an app separately) but this is dependent on the phone vendor.

No, this happens these days. It happens with my phone too. Mine is One Plus Nord.

This is implemented in different ways by different OEMs. For example, Samsung uses a service called Hiya to check for spam. That's why it's not consistent across OEMs and devices

Well, iPhone does it too. idk about the implementation or since when has this been happening cuz I've never noticed before but just today I got a call from an acquaintance and I have not saved their number but I can see their name in my recent calls.
