Hi everyone, How do you keep yourself healthy while working from home? I do little exercise before shower but I don't think these are enough. I used go running which kept me at least physically fit. That option is also not possible given govts are closing parks every now and then. I also found out recently that I have severe vitamin deficiencies. Vitamin D was so low doctor told me to get an injection quickly otherwise if I simply falldown from bed, I would get a fracture for sure. That is resolved for now. But it made me realize that I have to do something about my health so I'm asking you guys. What do you do to keep yourself physically in shape as well as healthy with no such deficiencies?

Brisk walk + Jog for 4 kms each day I don't go to parks for doing it, but use the footpath alongside the main road to do this. I haven't done it in a couple of weeks now, due to extreme cold in the mrng's šŸ˜… I intend to pick it up once the cold settles down šŸƒā€ā™‚ļø

You can always run on footpaths or roadside early in the morning. For vitamin D there is nothing other than spending some time in sunlight. Food don’t have high vitamin D to be a sustainable option.
And, there are tons of workout you can do in home without equipment. Just google it or look up on youtube. I’ve used the app ā€œHome Workoutā€ in the past and it’s really good.
I personally use an indoor cycling trainer in the winters, like this -

And outdoor cycling in summers. This plus some strength training.

Vitamin D deficiency is very common in the modern world since we all work inside closed doors with no exposure to sunlight. VitD3 supplements are pretty much a requirement these days. 2000 or 5000 IU capsules daily should be fine (but consult your doctor first) After listening to Huberman Lab podcast (Episode 43 with Dr. Sameer) I've now made it a habit to get 10 mins of sunlight as soon as I wake up. I just stand in my balcony.

I live in Bangalore and the deficiency is very common after rainy season. Last year there was no sun for almost two months. Only way is to take pills or in some cases injection(6L IU usually).

I run on the road without a mask and everyone clears the way for me, fearing I will spread covid. /s On a serious note, I bought a kettleball and a cheap treadmill during the lockdown. Good investments.

The base workout for me is Brisk Walk. Even if I'm missing workout for days. Brisk walk is the best and cheap exercise. Not a big fan of home workouts. Other than that I spend 2-3 hours at a rock climbing gym, which helps me disconnect from tech/ and work. Talking of the Vitamin D deficiencies, I would suggest to just sit out in the morning hours for 10 mins and get sunlight. I've allergic to UV since childhood, so cannot go out in the sun, so very much dependent of the supplements for years. I tend to very well distinguish low UV days to high UV days, so on the low days I usually spend on terrace brushing, or drinking morning water. I envy the folks who enjoy the winter sun šŸ˜‚
