Does ICICI offers any preferential exchange rates?
k
ICICI
c
was icici, switched to iob now due to better rates
c
Interesting what's the difference in inward remittance rates between ICICI and IOB?
c
Curious...why do you choose ICICI to receive international payments?
r
Better conversion rates @calm-barista-10323. ICICI has the best conversion rates (with respect to mid-market cash rate) for customers, as far as private banks are concerned in India. I shy away from govt banks as they are largely (perceived) to provide poor service.

@ripe-needle-9726 have you tried services like Paypal?
c
@calm-barista-10323 what's your point? AFAIK, Paypal has worse conversion/exchange rates anyway. (which Shashank mentioned was the "deciding factor" for him)
c
i see, thank you!

@calm-barista-10323 while we are on this topic, i couldn't find any clear data on inward-remittance rates+fees using Wise. According to this page, there is a flat 7.5USD for inwards remittance using USD wire-transfers. But, what would be the exchange-rate to INR later? (also would the 0.4% holding-charge apply in this case if holding a large amount of USD even for a week upon receiving it?) According to this page, the fees appear to be 5USD + 0.53%, which works out to be around 40paise margin less than then mid-market exchange rate. Is my above understanding correct for USD-INR inward remittance to India (or does Wise have any better rates)?
