Hi Guys i am new here just need some advice As a backend developer, what are the skill required to crack an interview. I am overwhelmed by the amount of things that are written in JD and completely lost what to learn or what not to. techstack - java
p
• now days coding test for preliminary filtering via hackerank like platform- practise solving problems • core java , collections , lambdas • spring boot - rest apis , spring data , overall spring framework fundamentals • database join , aggrgation queries i am assuming you are in early stage of career
i
I have 2 year of exp, I am working on struts 1.
p
• you should build learning projects to get hang of trending framework and add it to your resume. • Read every article from javarevisited blogpost

okay thankyou for the help. Just one question should i also learn React ,docker and AWS as they are also mentioned in the JD? It confuses me on what to focus and priortize

Make your fundamentals solid that will be good enough to crack any interview. You can learn AWS by deploying your projects,. React , AWS are good to have skills .If you really want to focus on backend then skip React it altogether different world and depends upon how you are comfortable with context switching.

okay thankyou for your valuable help

@icy-caravan-70204 from my limited hiring experience for startups, two things are a must have • You understand the fundamentals of the technology you're using (like @powerful-truck-73762 pointed out) • You understand the choices you've made in your past projects and where you could've improved. We're hiring for this role as well. You would not have to learn stuff just for the interview, but definitely would be expected to learn a lot for the job. If interested, please send me your website/github/CV.

Hi @tall-advantage-5586 thankyou for pointing out what's important and what to look. I don't think I am eligible for the job role you are hiring for. I am not much talented.
t
That's okay, we're not a talent show 😉 On a serious note, don't think of yourself this way. You are just learning one of the most (technically) difficult and sought-after professions.
i
@tall-advantage-5586 thankyou so much I will try my best to learn and come back to you when I feel I am eligible. Again thanks for your offer.

Don't go by JD. They'll expect you to know gazillion things. For your level of experience (as an interviewer) I would be happy if you know Java well. Spring boot, Rest architecture, React and SQL fundamentals is bonus. Practice writing code yourself in your free time. Consume books. I like the ‘<tech> in action’ books by manning.

@kind-autumn-55765 as of now I am doing DSA and side by side learning spring boot ecosystem plus doing a little bit of javascript
