Hi everyone, I'm looking for a good mic for my pc. I'll be using it for gaming as well as coding tutorials. Blue yeti seems to be the standard. Should I go for it? Or use some other microphone with some sort of noice reduction software?

I'm using this https://www.amazon.in/AU-PM421-Microphone-Professional-Condenser-Broadcasting/dp/B08FW1Q676/ Audio quality is good, and not being an omni directional, it doesn't capture a lot of background noise.
I had recorded my Tabla using the mic some 3 months ago:

@wide-twilight-82330 really cool performance! I'd be completely sold if you could repeat it with a neighbour's constantly barking dog and someone drilling a hole next door. Just kidding. 😉 But those two are my remaining problems to solve for a hassle-free video call experience. I haven't found evidence of how much noise these directional mics can filter out in the presence of ambient noise.

@helpful-gigabyte-47939 thanks 🙂 To give you an idea of how effective it's noise isolation is: I am in the vicinity construction site (the very next building out of my balcony) - grinding, drilling is a constant noise throughout the day, to the extent that at times I have to switch to headphones because I cannot understand what people speak if I use the laptop speakers. On meetings - I use Zoom's original sound option, and I don't use any noise cancellation software like Krisp. Still, people on the meetings hardly hear any noise from my end. If at all it's very faint.
A note about the microphone orientation though, if the source of noise is in any way behind the microphone, it will capture the noise. Hence, it is necessary to have a proper table orientation so that the boom stand can be placed correctly such that the noise should be either behind the mic (best) or towards the side (not so good, but ok). If you look at the pictures of the mic, you'll see the mic button and gain control knob - that is the front of the mic which should face the source of sound to be recorded.

Is Krisp not an option? It works very well. I have had my kids screaming and singing outside the door - to apologize to my colleagues on my call and they wonder what I am apologizing for.

@loud-glass-33663 No windows or macs on the premises. 🙂

@wide-twilight-82330 Thanks. Nice performance. 👍 I have a question. Does this have a 3.5mm port for your headphone or Do you plug headphones directly to system?
h
My simple problem with Krisp is that after a pause, it shaves off the first few milli seconds. So if I say Krisp, there is a high chance the other person only hears risp. Has anybody found a solution for this?

@lemon-knife-94497 thanks I use a 3.5mm directly to my laptop. This doesn't have a port. This being a USB mic does not require any audio interface / mixer (not compatible either as those devices are analog, not digital). @hundreds-winter-88791 this is the exact reason I don't like Krisp - it also makes the voice sound robotic which becomes annoying and tiring if used for more than 30 minutes to the person who's listening.

Thanks for confirming @wide-twilight-82330 @hundreds-winter-88791 I thought it was only me lol 😅

I am surprised why more aren't people talking about it.
