Any recommendations for dishwasher? Any ownership review regarding it? Does it clean dishes properly?
k
I got one from Midea ~2.5 years ago for 25k. It does clean dishes really well if: • you throw excess food waste into the bin before loading. • you loosen up burnt food/tea in the utensils with a scotch brite pad. • you load the dishwasher properly. I've made the habit of soaking all the dirty dishes with a little water through the day, then load it up at night and run it on eco mode. Don't use it to wash aluminum vessels though. Stainless steel, glass and plastics are fine.

Thanks @orange-mouse-66795 and @kind-queen-6796for sparking the convo. TIL about dishwasher. It was pain washing dishes by hand while my mother was old and ill and was wondering if there was a machine that automated this haha

Very difficult to convince Indian mothers. But in my book it is a great upgrade for a better life.

Some points: • You cannot use a dishwasher with some other types of dishes - non-stick pans, some anodised dishes, etc. • Regular maintenance with a descaler/dishwasher salt, in addition to the dishwasher liquid/powder. • IMHO a dishwasher has to be part of system solution, you can't just throw it in the mix and expect it will make things better. For example, works much better for plates with no sides, works better for ceramics and plastic plates, broad-mouthed dishes in general - all common in western households. • Build a workflow where you rinse immediately after - hot pans clean quickly, and remove tough grease and gunk yourself. Oh and just to second what @kind-queen-6796 says - dishwasher clean >> hand clean.

Yeah it doesn't clean Indian vessels which have a broad base and a narrow mouth, like some pressure cookers. The jet gets blocked. The workaround is to keep the vessel perfectly flat, facing down on the dishwasher.

is it suitable for plain dishes or does it clean glass plates that has carved design like this? dirt gets accumulated between these carves and is hard to clean them normally.

@creamy-dawn-73235 yeah it can clean glassware properly. I have a few bowls with such patterns and they come out shining.

Have LG dishwasher with no issues with Indian kadai and vessels and it has wifi enabled so can remotely start the cleaning if I'm away from my house.
