Folks, what are some of the best options to stay for a few hours?
Context: We (family) are traveling to Pune and have booked an Airbnb. However, we will be coming in early, and in case early check-in isn't available, I am looking for options to stay for ~3 hrs. I have checked the retiring rooms via IRCTC; however, 1. unfortunately it is not available, the only option is a single room, 2. haven't came across positive reviews for the same.
f
Most Airbnbs and Hotels allow you to drop-off the luggage if you show up earlier than usual check-in time, so you can leave the luggage and go out to nearby places (restaurants, malls, etc).
q
Good to know; however we will be coming by 6.30 AM + Airbnb's usually have a check-in time after 1 PM (although I am in touch with the owner to get this at the earliest). So, spending 5-6 hrs. in a mall/restaurant that early doesn't seem feasible.
f
Malls wouldn’t be open that early either 😬 Except for early morning movie shows.

I often face this issue when travelling alone. If I’m travelling by a flight, I just hang out on the airport. Else, I try to find a McDonalds or some other decent place that opens early. I freshen up there, have a nice breakfast and kill a few hours by reading a book.
h
Not sure how much luggage you have, but you could having a big breakfast at Vaishali. 🙂

Thanks all for your suggestions. I will plan something accordingly (although bf at Vaishali sounds good 😀)
f
Vaishali is overrated. 🙃

I visited it only once to meet a friend yrs back. Unsure about it's current status 🤨
h
Replace Vaishali with IdliWale, Roopali, <favourite> misal place. 😉 Though not everything is open that early - Vaishali is.
f
Thorat’s BBQ Misal is also nice, and Vohuman’s near station is all time fav. Also, early morning visit to Vohuman’s Cafe means you can have Cream Plate (which is only served till 10 AM).

Thorat's BBQ is a very good option, but they open by 9 AM. Thanks for sharing this place - Vohuman's cafe. I wasn't aware of it, and it seems a nice option (open up by 6 AM and is 750 meters from the station).
@helpful-gigabyte-47939 I know a person who will love IdiliWale 😀

Vohuman’s is traditional Parsi cafe, so don’t expect too many options besides staples like Cheese Omelette, Bhurji, Bun Maska and Tea, but yeah, can spend quite some time there, it is 5 minutes in auto (and 10-15 minutes walking) from back side entrance of Pune Railway station.
q
@flat-morning-91037 By back-side you mean where we have the auto stand? Or where we have Gandhi statue + ATM of a few banks? (I always get confused between these 😅)
f
So one is main entrance, the other is where Metro station is being built, on RTO road, that’s the backside, so after exiting the train, you take the sky bridge and come to the other side of the road. https://goo.gl/maps/bR9JhKyiZBM6s6Rw6

The Sheraton side...

Got it, this was the ONLY exit route available during covid times. The front entrance was closed.
Has anyone visited Thoseghar falls? Is it worth planning a 1-day trip?
f
We went there back in 2018 I think, visiting just Thoseghar may not be worth it but if you plan to include Mahabaleshwar in your way return then take a route that goes through Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary, it is quite scenic. Road I’m mention is adjacent to Koyna River.

Ahaa, we have visited Mahabaleshwar, then it seems it is not worthwhile visiting Thoseghar. What other place would you recommend?
f
Depends on driving appetite and weather, my personal season favourite is Malshej Ghat but then the traffic in Chakan is a mess, once you’re out of it, then road is very scenic. May as well book a night stay at MTDC Malshej, although on weekends and public holidays, it is full always.

If you're going towards Mulshi, then Tamhini ghat is recommended for a 1-day trip.

f
From Baner, Tamhini is like 4 hours trip total! And also roads have gotten quite good in past 2 years.
q
Quick question, do we need to do trekking to reach these places? Or is it easily accessible ?
f
Nope, most these places can be reached by vehicle, and additional minimal walking. Just wear something that doesn’t slip and can be removed and washed easily.
