A peculiar situation I'm in. I started a YouTube channel where I post videos of things I build. Mostly Notion templates. Off late I've launched a few products via Gumroad and made videos about my product and posted on YouTube with the product link in the videos and YouTube's free music(adding just to be clear it's not this). Today I get a mail that my account is terminated for repeated violations of community guidelines. Spam, deceptive practices or misleading content. I have not received any mails before this. The channel does not have any other content. Anyone have any idea what I might have done wrong? I've filed an appeal but I don't have high hopes.

That's Google for you. ML Algorithms randomly banning accounts without any human reviewers in the loop. Based on several HN threads I've seen about this exact same issue, I'd say there's nothing you can do.

That's sad and disappointing. 😞

Just make sure you always use a separate account for YT and other stuff separate from your personal Google a/c. Otherwise that a/c will get banned to. I am planning to move out of Google for this very reason.

Yes, I have always kept accounts separate so my personal account isn't affected. This channel was separate too. There doesn't seem to be a good replacement from what I could find for YouTube, or videos in general. Vimeo is limited to 2 videos per month, sadly.

I've been looking for video hosting solutions that are "free" (that's free-as-in-sell-me) for some time too, but no luck. @faint-energy-11966 Do you recommend a completely different Gmail ID or just a separate channel identity will do?

imo different ID altogether. Keep them as separate as possible.

Curious, is there really no way you can ask Youtube to review again? (with the hope that it turns out false-alarm and get reinstated).

There's an appeal form that I've filled which they say they will get back in 2 days. I don't have much hopes. My videos have been there for nearly 3-4 months without any strikes or mail about anything. I've posted the video links on social media platforms and people watch the video and they find the link to my product in the description and go to Gumroad to buy it. I wonder if I've missed adding something in the description that it is a paid product or something like that.
