Has anyone here tried a wire transfer from India to the USA for exercising stock options? I'm having trouble with my bank provider (HDFC) while trying to do a foreign outward remittance for the same. It asks for purpose of remittance and lists options such as Exam fees, education, visiting, etc, but there are no options listed for purchasing ESOPs as an employee.

#tribe How does one go about searching for contract based roles from outside India? I am aware of LinkedIn having a filter for searching 'Contract' roles, but apart from that, I don't know about any other platform for this?

How do you decide between growth and freedom in your career? If I take a position at a SF-based startup, it gives me growth in exchange for freedom. But if I work as a contractor, I get loads of freedom but with less job-based growth. Cash at the beginning is the same at both positions. Popular remote companies seem to be big on freedom (Basecamp, Gumroad, Buffer) but not as heavy on growth as a startup. What will you take and why? This question is hard because you can make a good living while going after freedom the entire time. So is to worth to give up that level of freedom for few years to grow?

Been playing with this idea of a personal dashboard. to be used as the default URL for a new tab. The blinking dot in footer represents your current age compared to expected life. The idea is that the 4 categories on the left increase your capacity to have more joy. As you grow older, the box on the right should grow bigger and bigger and dominate more of your attention. All the areas are resizable textareas so you allocate attention as per your preferences, and make sure that you are spending time on things that really matter. This is not supposed to be quantified self. I find that excessive tracking of oneself CHANGES me. What kind of person wants to measure and log "Played with the kid for 30 minutes"? This is just for keeping the big picture in mind. Only 3 goals per category are allowed are editable in-placfe. There is no syncing with any external day planner. The textareas can be used for notes or TODOs.
