Hum, i don't have the right metrics but I see something ~3month ago

3 month ago I updated to 7.19.0 to 7.20.0. I *think* the time to apply a catalog that gets logged to puppetdb include the time to gather facts… and we see that the line is less flat.

i hadn't noticed _exactly_ what was in that jira ticket until i _just_ ran a puppet debug run. had `operatingsystem` getting resolved over and over again

Nothing recent as far as I know. But it may depend on how many resources have providers that confine based on facts (as opposed to features)

So it is only in a Puppet context, not when running just Facter ?

yeah, I think calling `Facter.value(&lt;name&gt;)` will resolve the fact each time instead of returning the cached value

which is basically what puppet does when evaluating provider suitability/confining
