we're actually talking about it right now
question for you, what would you expect the behaviour to be if you specified both
--compile
and
--environment
?
b
it compiles a catalog within the provided environment and maybe yells warning/error if the env provides s different env
b
so the provided environment should override the ENC specified environment?

I never had the usecase to override the env. but I could image people wanting to do that
there currently is no option to decide if I want to talk to the ENC or not, right?
If I talk to the ENC, in PE at least, it will always provide an ENV and using that is fine. so you could argue that you dont need the --environment option. and if you use it, you want to overwrite the ENC. if thats not possible, log an error/earnign that ENC/local provided enc differ?
ah I guess --compile implies calling the ENC
b
yes, and the classifier always provides an environment
although it -can- provide an env of "agent specified"

c
although it -can- provide an env of "agent specified"
Not quite.
agent-specified
is an illegal environment name, because of the
-
. The Classifier uses it as a special value meaning "omit
environment
from the response".
So,
agent-specified
results in the Classifier returning no environment, which means the environment requested by the agent is not overridden.
b
ah nice hack
