Lots of people have written ENCs to fit their purpose, I'm not sure if there's a canonical open source implementation

the foreman is generally considered to be the de facto standard ENC for open source Puppet. It sort of depends on your needs though. How do you want your ENC to work?

were finding that there are alot of deprecated and unmaintained plugins in foreman

are there any features missing in foreman that you need?

default hostgroup is the most important.

did you consider updating that plugin instead of writing your own ENC?

we did some minor work. and wanted to give back but the plugin isn’t maintained. were not that good at ruby code to take over the plugin

meh. maybe ask in #theforeman on IRC? Having one project with many devs is better than multiple projects with a few devs :D

were weighing our options, its not an immediate but with alot of the plugins being deprecated got us thinking about down the road
