Puppet Core 8.13.1 Release Announcement We’re pleased to announce the release of Puppet Core 8.13.1. This release addresses a critical compatibility issue introduced in earlier versions that affected DSC providers used by Security Compliance Enforcement for Windows. What's Fixed Puppet Core 8.12.0 and 8.13.0 included the puppet-resource_api gem version 2.0. While this update introduced some improvements, it also inadvertently broke support for auto-generated DSC providers, specifically impacting the dsc_securityoption type used to enforce CIS controls in Security Compliance Enforcement for Windows. To resolve this, Puppet Core 8.13.1 reverts to puppet-resource_api 1.9.0, restoring expected behaviour and compatibility. Recommended Action If you're using Security Compliance Enforcement for Windows or rely on DSC providers, we strongly recommend upgrading to Puppet Core 8.13.1 as soon as possible to restore functionality. PE Advanced unlocks the power of Puppet with the new AI-powered Infra Assistant. Infra Assistant transforms how teams interact with Puppet infrastructure data by unlocking deep insights simply by asking questions using natural language—teams are no longer reliant on advanced Puppet users with PQL expertise. This release also includes usability enhancements, fixes, and expanded platform support. What's new in 2025.4 PE Advanced – Infra Assistant now included Time spent finding the right information, knowing which services to use, and reliance on Puppet experts slows velocity and creates a productivity bottleneck for infrastructure teams. Infra Assistant, available within the Puppet Enterprise console, unlocks infrastructure data and services for everyone—not just Puppet power users. Authorized users can now safely access real-time infrastructure data more easily to make faster, data-driven decisions with confidence. Customers with PE Advanced licenses are entitled to activate the Infra Assistant feature today. For information about enabling the Infra Assistant, see the docs herehttps://help.puppet.com/pe/current/topics/infra-assistant.htm?Highlight=infra%20assistant. To upgrade to the PE Advanced license, contact our sales teamhttps://www.puppet.com/contact. [Puppet AI Infra Assistant chat example screenshot.] PE Advanced - Advanced Patching enhancements In addition to general usability improvements within the Advanced Patching feature, this release introduces support for creating patch groups in the console with fact-based rules for dynamic membership. Previously, the PE console supported creating patch groups with pinned nodes, while dynamic membership (using fact-based rules) was available only via API. You can now create patch groups in the console with pinned membership, or using fact-based rules for dynamic membership, or both. At patch job runtime, nodes that match your defined rules, and that aren’t already pinned to another patch group, are included automatically. This update simplifies patching workflows and reduces manual effort. PE – Exclusive new agent platform packages in PE 2025.4 and PE 2023.8.4 The following platform is now supported, ensuring broader compatibility for PE and PE Advanced customers: * MacOS 15 x86_64 agent support has been added For more detailed information about the new features, enhancements, and fixes included in PE 2025.4, please see PE release noteshttps://help.puppet.com/pe/current/topics/release-notes-pe-x-4.htm. We’ve added new platform support, as well as made various improvements. Additionally, this release includes usability enhancements, security improvements and other important fixes. Benefits of upgrading to PE 2025.5: * Rerun plans from the PE Console * Various bug fixes and security enhancements Benefits of upgrading to PE 2025.5 and 2023.8.5: * Filter plans by name in the PE Console * Improved file sync configuration parameters * Agent platform support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 10 x86_64 * Security, reliability and performance enhancements For more detailed information about the new enhancements and improvements included in PE 2023.8.5 and 2025.5, please see the release notes for PE 2023.8.5 herehttps://help.puppet.com/pe/2023.8/topics/release-notes-pe-x-y-5.htm and the release notes for PE 2025.5 herehttps://help.puppet.com/pe/current/topics/puppet-enterprise.htm. Important Upcoming Changes to the Puppet Enterprise Lifecycle Starting August 6 2026, Puppet Enterprise® will adopt a new software support model using the following nomenclature of “Latest” and “Latest - 1” that will accelerate product innovation and simplify the product lifecycle management. What’s changing? Under the new model: * “Latest” series: Receives full software support and maintenance (new features, fixes, security updates) for 12 months from the date of the latest major version release. * “Latest - 1” series: Receives limited software support and maintenance (defect fixes and minor changes only) for an additional 12 months after being superseded by the “Latest” version of the Puppet Enterprise® software. The new model will replace the previous Long-Term Support (“LTS”) model, which offered up to twenty-four (24) months of limited software support and maintenance with limited feature delivery. Impact on current release streams: * PE 2023.8.z series (LTS): This is the final series supported under the LTS support model. Maintenance releases will continue until August 2026, when the series reaches end of life (“EOL”). This timing coincides with the launch of the new software and support lifecycle model. Customers should begin planning upgrades to remain supported. * PE 2025.y series (Current “latest”): This series will continue receiving the latest updates until August 2026, when the next major PE version is released. At that point, 2025.y will transition to “Latest -1” and receive defect fixes and minor changes only until its EOL in August 2027. This change is designed to: * Deliver continuous access to new features * Improve security through more frequent updates and patches * Provide a predictable, simplified support timeline Further documentation and upgrade guidance will be provided ahead of the August 2026 transition. Lifecycle Changes for Continuous Delivery and Comply (SCM) Puppet by Perforce announces the end of life (EOL), effective February 5, 2026, of the following product versions: * Continuous Delivery (CD) version 4.x * Comply 2.x, the legacy version of Security Compliance Management (SCM) Future development will focus on CD 5.x and SCM 3.x, which offer greater reliability, reduced dependencies, and ongoing innovation. Customers currently using the older versions are encouraged to migrate to the latest releases to avoid disruption and ensure continued support. Active maintenance and migration assistance will be provided up to the EOL date, with an option for extended support available as a premium offering. Detailed individual announcements for CD and Comply (SCM) have been published with information about next steps for customers currently using the older versions.

End-of-life announcement: Continuous Delivery version 4.x  [puppet logo dag 2025] End-of-life announcement: Continuous Delivery version 4.x Puppet by Perforce announces the end of life (EOL) for version 4.x of Continuous Delivery (CD), effective February 5, 2026—six months from the date of this notice. Going forward, development will focus on the latest version, 5.x, which will continue to receive full support, updates, and enhancements. Next steps * Migration to CD 5.x If your organization is currently using CD version 4.x, we recommend migrating to CD 5.xhttps://help.puppet.com/cdpe/current/Content/UserGuide/CDPE/Upgrade/migrate_5_x.htm as soon as possible to avoid disruption and ensure continued support. Migrating to version 5.x reduces dependency on external applications, improving efficiency and reliability, while retaining or enhancing all core features. * Active maintenance period In the six-month period between this announcement and the EOL date, quarterly releases of version 4.x will address critical bugs and security issues, and we'll provide migration support for customers transitioning to version 5.x. * Extended maintenance option Customers who require more time to complete their migration may opt into an additional six months of extended support for version 4.x, available as a premium offering. Please contact your account team for more information. * End of support After the extended support period ends, no further updates, fixes or support will be provided for CD version 4.x. We strongly encourage planning your migration in advance to avoid disruption. We’re here to help Our Professional Services, Support, and Engineering teams are available to assist with migration planning, technical questions, and any challenges you may encounter during this transition. Introducing Puppet Edge and new Puppet Enterprise releases! A New Way to Manage Network and Edge Devices Edge environments are expanding rapidly, yet most organizations lack visibility and control over these devices. Nearly half of network outages are caused by configuration errors, and traditional agent-based approaches aren’t practical for many edge or network systems. Puppet Edge, a capability available for Puppet Core and the Puppet Enterprise platform, addresses this challenge with agentless, task-based orchestration for network and edge devices, complementing existing desired state automation for servers and delivering flexibility without compromising compliance. Puppet Edge combines the power of Puppet and a hardened version of Puppet Bolt to deliver orchestration for edge devices. It also introduces two powerful new modules: * Playbook Runner – Incorporate external content into your Puppet processes, enabling seamless integration of existing orchestration playbooks from tools like Ansible®. It provides structured execution, improved logic branching, and better error and inventory handling for resiliency and greater ease of use. * EdgeOps - Delivers enterprise-grade tools for managing network and edge devices at scale. Built on a robust Ruby implementation of the NETCONF protocol, it enables configuration management, operational tasks, lock management, and schema discovery for network devices, with the reliability and scalability you expect from Puppet Customers who use Puppet Edge with Puppet Enterprise Advanced will receive additional exclusive features, including Workflows for composing tasks, plans, and playbooks; and expanded Infra Assistant capabilities to include code assist to generate code to manage edge devices. * Workflows - Composing tasks, plans, and playbooks – including those run through Playbook Runner – in Workflows enables imperative orchestration of edge devices in a streamlined, reusable format. Power users can build and share complex workflows, allowing teammates to execute sophisticated orchestration without deep Puppet knowledge. * Infra Assistant: code assist – Code generation is now supported in Infra Assistant, enabling the use of AI to generate content to help manage network and edge devices. Puppet Enterprise 2023.8.6 and 2025.6 have been released! Alongside Edge, we are excited to announce that Puppet Enterprise (PE) 2023.8.6 and 2025.6 (PE and PE Advanced) are here and feature powerful new enhancements and updates, including improvements to Advanced Patching, bugfixes and security updates. Advanced Patching Puppet Enterprise Advanced 2025.6 introduces greater flexibility to the Advanced Patching feature. From the PE console, users can now edit maintenance windows, blackout windows, and scheduled patch jobs directly making patch management more agile and user-friendly. The same functionality is also available via API, enabling automation and integration with external systems. Benefits of upgrading to PE Advanced 2025.6: * Edit maintenance and blackout windows with Advanced Patching * Edit scheduled patch jobs with Advanced Patching * Security and reliability enhancements * Over 50 CVEs addressed * Benefits of upgrading to PE 2025.6 and 2023.8.6: * Security and reliability enhancements * Over 50 CVEs addressed For more detailed information about the new enhancements and improvements included in PE 2023.8.6 and 2025.6, please see the release notes for PE 2023.8.6 herehttps://help.puppet.com/pe/2023.8/topics/release-notes-pe-x-y-6.htm and the release notes for PE 2025.6 herehttps://help.puppet.com/pe/current/topics/release-notes-pe-x-6.htm.
