Release Announcement: Puppet Forge - New user profile feature and other updates
Hello all,
We’re excited to share what’s new in the Puppet Forge! Built from your feedback (thank you!), we’re personalizing user profiles, deprecating outdated modules and much more, so you have a pleasant and valuable Forge experience. Here’s a brief outline of the updates:
* User profile enhancements: With improved profile functionality, you can now effortlessly manage module downloads and stay updated on the latest versions available on Forge. Integration with Puppetfiles and API token syncing makes the process smoother than ever before! Now you can:
* Track module updates — no more manual searching for the large number of modules in your infrastructure.
* Gain visibility into your modules — see when they were downloaded and compare them against the latest versions, so that you don’t fall behind on your updates.
* See a snapshot of your current state — all you have to do is upload a Puppetfile.
* Keep track of frequent searches — spend less time sorting through filters for platforms, supported versions, and more.
* Auto-deprecating Outdated Modules: Say goodbye to outdated modules! Our automated system now identifies and flags modules inactive for 5 years, ensuring you're always working with the latest and greatest. Publishers will receive email notifications, keeping everyone in the loop and encouraging timely updates. With this update:
* Efficient module discovery – with deprecated modules not appearing in search results by default, the time you take to find the latest relevant modules will be drastically reduced.
* Scheduled for deprecation badge – with this new identifier in the search results and in your profile downloads, you are informed of infrequently maintained modules, so you can better control your infrastructure reliability.
* Dynamic list for modules marked for deprecation – Quickly search for status of a module or publisher you are interested in using this list.https://forge.puppet.com/modules/deprecation/scheduled
* Improved Security with Extra MFA Check: Your security is our top priority! That's why we've added an extra layer of protection with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for sensitive actions and resources. Rest easy knowing your data is safe and secure.
* Usability Enhancements: We've revamped the account creation process and user profile settings page to make navigating Forge a breeze! Enjoy a more intuitive experience from start to finish, making it easier than ever to access and manage your account.
