Hey check it out, the 2022 State of DevOps survey is here — and it’s a bit different this year. We’re focusing on Platform Engineering, which @nigel will happily bend your ear over, and it’d be rad if you’d share your insights and influence the largest Devops research in the industry. https://puppet.com/blog/take-the-2022-state-of-devops-survey-platform-engineering-edition/

Good morning everyone! Apologies for the spam deluge earlier today when I replied to a customer and cc'd the email alias for my team. A permission was incorrectly set on the mailing list which enabled non-puppet employees to be able to post messages. This permission has been fixed. Posted in #puppet

We're launching a monthly highlight of Puppet Knowledge Base articles. These can be viewed without a support account and many apply to Open Source Puppet installations as well as Puppet Enterprise. This month's batch can be found here: https://twitter.com/puppetize/status/1591089088316276740

Hey folks, we have an update regarding this week's changes to the
    puppetlabs/r10k
    project on GitHub:
ICYMI r10k was deemed "feature complete" and we moved the project to a maintenance mode status. This was a result of internal prioritization activities at Puppet by Perforce. Even with something being “feature complete,” you are able to use r10k as normal with both Puppet Open Source and Puppet Enterprise.
One unintended result of changing the project to maintenance mode was that the issue tracker was closed. We've heard the feedback that's important to have, so we will reopen the project in order to make that tracker available to the community. This will re-open the ability for community members to submit bugs and PRs for issues -- however, we will only be able to respond to the most critical issues.
Puppet by Perforce is continually evolving Puppet Enterprise and evaluating areas of the product that should provide better value to our customers. Code Manager and its use of r10k has been evaluated in the past and will continue to be evaluated in the future. The placement of r10k into maintenance mode does not affect the plans for Code Manager in the short term, but we will continue to evaluate all other options as we move forward. We look forward to continuing to make Puppet Enterprise a better experience for all of our customers and appreciate all of the community’s help.
We didn't do a really good job about communicating what is happening with r10k and we are sorry about this. In the future, we will work to ensure this information is shared in a better manner whether that is via our Puppet user google group or on Slack. Appreciate your time and patience with us, and again, we apologize for the communication error on our part.

Hey folks, this Saturday December 10th starting at 9:00 AM PST, the Puppet IT team is going to be performing some network maintenance that will result in our Jira instance being intermittently available or unavailable for up to several hours. We don't expect the Forge to be affected, but in an abundance of caution suggest scheduling major deployments to avoid this maintenance window. We’ll post further updates here as the work progresses. We apologize for the late notice, and any inconvenience this may cause you.

Hey everyone, just a reminder that we’re in the process of migrating our Jira instance into the cloud. As part of this effort, user accounts will be transitioned into Atlassian accounts and you may receive emails about this. We did have a brief misconfiguration resulting in elevated privileges for some users. This has been corrected, but if you want more information you should watch your email for a project update.

Just a heads up. I have opted us out of Slack's new AI/ML model training per https://slack.com/trust/data-management/privacy-principles. There are far too many conversations including sensitive infrastructure details in this space for me to feel comfortable with even a chance of it leaking into public knowledge. I'll update this post when they've removed our data. Apologies for the interruption and keep on being rad.
