out of curiosity, is anyone who has deployed
prisma
servers keeping track of operating costs?
@Jenkins lets continue in this thread 🙂 thanks for that info

I think that's smart - yeah! And np! You should sign up for the Kubernetes beta at DO. I only got into Kubernetes a couple months ago, but now I don't know how I ever lived without it.
p
i will check that out, along with new heroku option 😉 lol
j
True - gotta use the fresh new features!
p
i have a cluster deployed to aws using fargate, it is around $50 for the cluster, around $5 for ELB and about 15$ for RDS...note this is with dev activity (meaning not much), 2gb ram, 1024
cpu
units
j
Oh wow! That was expensive...
For Prod env you're then easily looking at $150+ if not even a whole lot more...
p
yes it is a bit of a concern, however, with a few tweaks to the configuration (via cloudformation) I am fairly sure it can be reduced.
j
True. You can run Kubernetes on AWS though. There are a lot of tutorials for it. It might save you a bunch in terms of cost as it auto scales very well.

Fargate is ridiculously priced. These numbers our a few months out of date, but still illustrates:
It makes sense considering Fargate is uber-abstracted. EC2 -> ECS -> Fargate
Regardless, seems prohibitively expensive rn
j
Indeed
