Hi! Does anyone have any insights what's the status with hosted Graphcool? Basically everything on their website is redirecting visitors to prisma.io and the Github page for Graphcool framework is flooded with (unsolved) issues. I was thinking of developing an app on graph.cool/cloud but I'm starting to hesitate.. 😕

Pretty safe to say it's stagnant at this point... They got a huge funding round for Prisma recently so it wouldn't make much sense to keep working on graphcool beyond a maintenance level. The Prisma docs have a pretty in-depth graphcool-to-prisma migration guide

As a long time graphcool and now Prisma user across projects, don’t go with Graphcool for new projects
It was really cool, but as @zak.singh said, they likely won’t be doing any work outside maintenance going forward
Except perhaps for a throwaway prototype project, then Graphcool is amazing

it would be great if they officially announced this

1. How can they afford being so careless about Graphcool? If it's not something severely wrong with the framework, then I guess it's business reasons. Those kind of companies scare the hell out of me. 2. Comparing Prisma to Graphcool is ludicrous. It's not like it's a 1-to-1 mapping between these two services. Don't get me wrong - Prisma is a wonderful thing, but it's for people not minding managing all moving parts themselves.

I have a feeling its because the market for graphql CMS services has quickly become saturated - there are dozens of options, and there's already been one or two failures as a result of not being able to keep up. Prisma is a step in a new, more exciting direction

That's probably it, didn't think about it in that way. Do you have any comparable companies offering managed GraphQL + integrated FaaS service?

Strapi, GENTICS Mesh, Mozaik, GraphCMS, Gatsby, maybe? Never used any of these but I've heard their names mentioned in the past
