I'm really confused about this Prisma Client, what is this about, the docs only says how to use but not the meaning and the reason to use that over the regular way
i
Use whichever GQL client you like. Prisma just offers their own as well, but there’s a ton others
z
Wait, prisma client is just like Apollo Client? I thought it was for usage on the server
h
No prisma client is not like apollo client
The Prisma client is based on the operations defined in the GraphQL schema of your Prisma API. For writing data, it basically mirrors the GraphQL mutations of your Prisma service.
h
Treat it more like a ORM like sequelize or mongoose which can be used to query your db ie prisma
It can be used to query your db it doesnt matter wheather you are using a graphql api or a rest api in between
z
I thought that it was possible already using the context.db with prisma
GraphQL only
Postgres as database
I was using sequelize before but I found myself in a lot of problems such as N + 1 and then I decided to start using Prisma
h
that is graphql binding which are more specific to graphql but now prisma can be used in other places
I was using sequelize before but I
prisma still solves this
z
so it's better to use the client?
h
if you are using a graphql api I will recommend to stick with bindings
cause it offers features like forwardTo etc
z
hmmm, got it
I'm using using rest or anything, only graphql and postgres as database
I will read the article I found on the blog
I think will help me understand better
h
Ok great 🙂
