Hey guys! I remember dokku tutorial needed some improvements because I tried it a while ago but it didn't work. Were these improvements added or not? 🙂 I believe creator is here but I cannot remember his username... maybe @w0wka91?

w
Yes, you're right 😁 What is not working for you?

g
@w0wka91 I don't already remember what was the problem, I remember that I gave up last time with setting dokku 😄 Going to try again a little bit later, tho. May I tag you if I have any problems?
w
Yes, sure. I try to help 😉
g
@w0wka91 thanks :))
@w0wka91 is there anything that I should change? For example, my path to prisma.yml is prisma/prisma.production.yml Also, prisma version is 1.19.3, should I change it here "prismagraphql/prisma:1.14"? Also, may I change user and password?
Also, how does your prisma.yml look like? Like what is the path in endpoint variable?
So, I finally deployed it but I've got these errors 😞 Here are my files, if you have time and wish to help - https://gist.github.com/SilencerWeb/5bfe191945d2338fba9ab21896286c21
God dammit, still have no idea wtf it is...
Here is my project repository, pls help 😞 https://github.com/SilencerWeb/follow-api/tree/development
w
Looks like the wrong password
You need to change the password in prisma.yml
Use the pw which is popping up in the console when you create the postgres backing service
g
@w0wka91 on what kind of password? I already tried to set username and password both to "prisma" but it still doesn't work
w
You see this kind of output when you create the backing service. Your credentials are in the Dsn part. postgres://YOUR_USERNAME:YOUR_PASSWORD
g
@w0wka91 damn, i didn't even have an idea... Please, clarify this in the tutorial, it will be super helpful 🙂

Also, what about docker-compose.yml? Does I need it or not here?
Also, when I start app it shows me this:
Copy code
=====> Application deployed:
       <http://production:4466>
Does it mean I should add
<http://production:4466>
to prisma endpoint's value? Or
<http://localhost:4466>
?
Also, that's how it works now 😞 I updated my github repo, tho
w
You need to specify your deployed service in the playground url 😄
g
w
Did you deploy your service to the dokku prisma server?
g
i don't think so...
how should i do this?
or u mean this command
git push --set-upstream dokku master
?
w
You need to go to your prisma.yml(Your project) and use 139.59.185.230 as your endpoint
g
oh, lemme try
without port?
just like this
<http://139.59.185.230>
?
w
Yes, i think so
g
@w0wka91 nope, doesn't help 😞 Maybe it is something about config? Also, does I need
docker-compose.yml
or not?
w
Hang on
g
sure
Your server works fine
Thats an example config
I was able to deploy that service to your server
g
@w0wka91 so as i see, the only difference is endpoint, right? I changed it to similar to urs, but it still works like it used to 😞 - https://github.com/SilencerWeb/follow-api/blob/development/prisma/prisma.production.yml#L1
w
Did you execute prisma deploy again?
g
dokku run follow-api "prisma deploy"
like this?
and yea, i see that your example works but mine does not, lol, wtf
w
You dont have to do anything with your prisma server anymore. You need to undestand the difference between the prisma server and a prisma service
You can just follow this tutorial and replace the endpoint with your servers endpoint https://www.prisma.io/docs/1.14/tutorials/setup-prisma/demo-server-ouzia3ahqu
I would also seperate the server configuration and the service configuration.
g
Any example of how to do it?
w
Check out this part of the docs to understand the prisma terminology https://www.prisma.io/docs/understand-prisma/prisma-introduction-what-why-how-j9ff/
g
Also, could you tell me how you deployed to my prisma server?
Is there anything I can do to prevent this so my server would be safer?
w
You could just add this to your config.yml managementApiSecret: "YOUR_SECRET"
g
Thank you so much 🙂
