Random question, why slack over Discord for the community?
t
Prisma, a product targeted to all generations, not just Z
a
Discord is also gaming-centric is it not? Whereas slack is geared towards general communities
j
While initially targeted toward gamers, Discord had made an intentional effort to re-target themselves/their branding to be a general purpose platform
Many libraries use Discord now - Vue, Vuetify, ESLint, NextJS, Foal, Snowpack, and Typescript all have official Discords that I have joined
Slack is really meant as an internal communication tool for teams. Discord’s features are generally better suited toward communities. Threads are something that would be noticeably lacking though
m
Yeah I agree with Jonathan
Big fan of the typescript discord
Don't forget Reactiflux, that's also a huge community on discord
j
*Correction - NestJS, not NextJS

discord - security wise it's an operational nightmare, performance wise it depends on what server you stay on, ecosystem wise it's 10x more people/attention/engagement; it is not rocket science to figure out using discord would result in a lot more people asking prisma questions without knowing any js or gql
