@sorenbs thanks. What are the plans going forwards for the console? Is there a timeline around which it will go away?

the Console will not "go away" as such, but it will become a tool to get insights into performance & errors, manage collaboration etc, rather than your day-to-day IDE. that stuff's better handled in Atom, Webstorm, VS, ... 🙂
