What is this prisma? Please don't say that the fourth month brings a fourth course reversal.

Seems like a harsh critique. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Graphcool is at the forefront of the GraphQL community.
a
Very constructive as well, I might add πŸ‘

It reflects frustration.
d
With the platform as a whole? Or pieces of it?
n
People entrust their database to graphcool, which is at the core of every project and infrastructure. I think that there is a certain need for reliablity and very clear communication where the ship is heading.
l
With the lack of direction. For instance, look at the Slack feed. Questions from users who are at all different. and largely incompatible stages of the project. As Nick said, we are talking about our data layer. The head whipping in this project concerns me, greatly, despite my personal affinity for the developers involved
Like Nick said, hopefully it's just a name for 1.0

There's three groups of users. Those who are still fully relying on the Console (I don't see to many of those anymore, or they hardly run into issues). The second and largest group using the pre-1.0 CLI. And there's a small group of people already using the 1.0 beta (now RC). Saying that is a lack of direction would be saying to Microsoft to only support the latest version of Windows. Any 'head whipping' has been in beta stages, where such is to be expected.

Understandable and relatable. However, you are already on the cutting edge of a data solution (GraphQL). The GraphQL community is still constantly churning in general.
graphql-js
, itself, isn’t even that old.

Good point @devan. The underlying technology is all on pre-1.0 versions, meaning anything can change at any time. Arriving at that 1.0 should be a relief, not a concern.
d
Exactly. Typically 1.0 means stable πŸ™‚

For me, the three stages are ok, especially as we see tremendous progress and incresed separation of concern from stage to stage. What borrows me is maybe not having a reliable provider regarding services. I have written them an E-Mail @support, about how to buy services beyond the 35$ and did not receive a response. I'm interested in how they make money. If it's DaaS, i'm all in. Currently we're in the AppSync preview of AWS, too which looks promising as well....
m
I can say I have old project work with the console and all is stable and fine

Thank you @nilan! I know you have a lot of stuff to do πŸ˜‰

With the recent changes, from a marketing perspective, the prisma hype fell flat for me. πŸ™‚ Sorry for my reaction. It's was a Monday morning "oh no"
