@nilan What happens to the Graphcool Cloud? Will there be a hosted and managed Version of Prisma (and maybe even graphql-yoga)?

r
Yes I think the database part (not sure about yoga) is coming soon check this out https://www.graph.cool/cloud/
b
@ragzor this site hasnโ€™t changed in a long time - I really hope this kind of service will still exist in the future ๐Ÿ™‚
n
Graphcool Cloud and Prisma are not related ๐Ÿ™‚ we'll continue to offer Graphcool Cloud

Okay, so you may need to update the documentation for graphcool cloud ๐Ÿ˜‰ It always looked like it was an evolution, not a different project
n
Prisma is a rewrite of the GraphQL engine for the Graphcool Framework ๐Ÿ™‚
b
@nilan So theres 1) Prisma - a GraphQL engine 2) graphql-yoga - a GraphQL Server that yould use Prisma as a Backend 3) Graphcool Framework - a complete backend solution with an GraphQL interface, serverless funktions and webhooks that uses Prisma as its Engine 4) Graphcool Cloud - a hosted version of the Graphcool Framework?

n
correct ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks @Ben!
b
So the docs for the graphcool framework say itโ€™s in 0.x - and when wie choose 1.0 itโ€™s actually the documentation for prisma. Which is really confusing!
n
please use https://www.prismagraphql.com/docs instead, thanks for the hint we'll clean that up ๐Ÿ™‚

Will there be a 1.0 of the graphcool framework / cloud soon? We woul love to use that as our production backend for an app, that needs to be highly scalable. right now we didnโ€™t use it because the future was uncertain. Of yourse we could use prisma and graphql-yoga and host everything on our own, but i really like the idea of using an managed backend service, so we dont have to worry about scaling.

Can you recommend using graphcool cloud for that use case or is it ore something for smaller hobby projects? Should we look into using prisma and graphql-yoga instead?
Oh and Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™m not the only one who got confused. Maybe you could write an blog article to clear everything up and explain the diffrence between all your tools and maybe a roadmap, so people can see what has a future and what gets deprecated.

Also I would love to pay for all the work you guys put into this ๐Ÿ™‚ But before betting on the wrong horse itโ€™s extremely important for us to know if graphcool cloud will be maintained for a (hopefully) very long time.
