Hey Brian, It’s really depends on your use case. We in Permit are using Postgres as our main broadcast and it works great with high performance overall. If you are willing to test things with Opal I would recommend a backend that will be the most convenient for you to manage and maintain.

Internally we use Poatgres mostly, but it really doesn't matter. By now all options are being used by different companies in production
