&gt; Hi folks, is there a doc on the `/matrix` API? It’s not documented in HAL browser and the syntax for the parameters is somewhat confusing. Or is this API not considered public?
We’ve been trying to avoid making it public, because it’s a complicated API.

This is great! I figured out most of it using <https://docs.pact.io/pact_broker/advanced_topics/matrix_selectors|this doc> and the source code of the `pact-broker` cli
but the link you shared makes it much more systematic.
But cvpv vs cvp isn't documented too well:
```To determine if Foo v2 can be deployed with the latest prod versions of all its integration partners, our selectors would be:

{"pacticipant": "Foo", "version": "2"} and our options would be { "environment": "prod", latestby: "cvp"}. (Note the change in latestby from "cvpv" to "cvp". The reasons why this is the case are beyond the scope of this document.)```

I think you use cvpv when you need a matrix between a specific consumer and a specific provider versions, but you use cvp when you just specify a consumer version (cv) and check it against every provider (p)
