You want to run a VPS inside of OrbStack?

I hope that doesn’t sound dumb. I was thinking something along the lines of the VPS that I am deploying is used for mostly docker stuff and if I could have those docker containers also show in or stack for quick local access

Oh I see, like you kind of want to link your local OrbStack to the remote containers you are running on the VPS. I don't think you can do that, to my knowledge.

Because it's off-topic and has nothing to do with Orbstack I guess. If you're not using private images, then just

docker logout

the binary sits inside orbstack directory

and this was not the default behavior when using docker desktop

If you migrated from docker desktop this behavior makes sense

For any docker credentials that were stored in index.docker.io

If you remove it from keychain access, the problem should go away

In an Orbstack machine, with orbstack itself running on my laptop, is there a hostname that refers to the laptop itself? There's an IP address, but I'd like something that would work for anyone running orbstack, and I assume the IP address that I have seen would be different for other people under other circumstances.

host.orb.internal

It's not just that it's unreachable via ping; it's also that (I suspect) that the address is wrong

I wonder if

host.orb.internal

is resolving to the IP of the linux virtual machine, instead of to the laptop 🤷

you can use

hostname -I

to see the IP of the linux vm. that's not it. I assume the IP is some special IP for OrbStack to route back from the vm to the host.

Sucks not having docker sandboxes.

I don't know much about docker sandboxes, but the install page states > Install the sbx CLI to run AI coding agents in isolated microVMs. You don't need Docker Desktop or Docker Engine to use sbx. 🤷

The Docker Sandboxes installation page says it works on macOS, Windows and Linux. OrbStack, afaik, is macOS only though. 🤷

Anyone using OrbStack on macOS 27 yet? Just wondering if it plays nice.

I have been using OrbStack on macOS 27 personally for some time. All of DDEV's test runners are updated to 27 now, and after hours and hours of automated testing, no problems discovered.

Good to know. To be fair, I'm primarily using it with ddev, so it's generally only using fairly basic web/db/Redis configurations. Hmm… time to upgrade one of these days, I guess. I won't miss Tahoe, it has to be said. 😬

Hey guys, Just purchased yearly subscription. Thank you guys for amazing work! It is really much better than everything I used before. What I personally love about it is that it uses only those resources that are really allocated by containers, doesn't lock cpu or memory. So I can stretch my host machine resources smartly. And, number of supported devices in 1 license as well, because I have few machines I work on. Thanks again
