Hello team, we are currently running OpenObserve V0.14.7 in a self-hosted Kubernetes environment using the native Helm chart. I've noticed several new changes, including the migration of metadata storage from MySQL to PostgreSQL. I'm curious if there's an upgrade path or guide available to help us transition to the latest version.

Hi @silambu.ajayk Thanks for reaching out. Since you are currently running a really old version, to upgrade to latest(v.0.91.3) - you should do a incremental upgrade to avoid any issues related the meta table schema changes. Incremental would look something like - 0.14.7 -> 0.20.0 -> 0.30.0 -> ....... @Hengfei please add anything which might be helpful here.

yes @Manas (OpenObserve), until you are on v0.50.0, then migration to pg from mysql: openobserve.ai/docs/migration/migrate-database
when you try to upgrade to v0.70. you will got file_list migration again: openobserve.ai/docs/migration/migrate-file-list-partition
0.80, 0.90, it is fine, even a lot of changes, but no big db change, you can directly update.

Thanks for the response, one more question : in the helm chart i don't see app version anything between 0.20 to 0.40. I see I can update the image tag as part of the values, but is there compatibility which I need to be aware of .. like X chart version support Y app version only ?
m
Not really, you can use any chart version(go for a new and stable one) and update the image tag

Oh, that's great! Since I couldn't find any release or changelog, I was wondering about the helm chart version. I'll give it a try, thanks again

Hi @silambu.ajayk , is the migration completed? Please ping me here if you need further support with deployment, features or anything else.
