Hey everyone, I haven't built a PC in years so I don't know what parts are good anymore. Need to build a budget PC that will run Assetto Corsa on ultra settings with a racing wheel. These are the recommended specs, but I think we probably want to go a bit higher than that. Can someone pls advise what kind of CPU and GPU to go for? Ty! RECOMMENDED SPECS OS: Windows 7 Sp1 – 8 – 8.1 – 10 Processor: AMD Six-Core CPU, Intel Quad-Core CPU Memory: 6 GB RAM Graphics: DirectX 11 (AMD Radeon 290x, Nvidia GeForce GTX 970) DirectX: Version 11 Network: Broadband Internet connection Hard Drive: 30 GB available space Sound Card: Integrated

i5 8th Gen, RX 580, 16 gb ram, some 'x' tb ssd will do the job imo, cheapest possible setup.

oooh
that website scares me
idk anything about RXs 😭
n
won't be cheap, that's not all the parts
c
Whats ur budget
e
thank you!!!!
nothing specific, we're happy to spend whatever needs to be spent, just not too crazy
as in, i'm not gonna go buy a $5000 PC if a $2000 one will be sufficient

@echoing-wolf-14817 what screen resolution will you get?
Assetto Corsa isn't super demanding on hardware if you don't mod it to heaven and back
also really fun game 👍
g
what's missing from that selection is a case.... either that, or I'm blind I recommend Corsair's Airflow cases. simple and efficient
g
For a cheap and good CPU I recommend 13th gen i5-13600KF - $294
A 1050ti or simillar would be enough too
At least 16gb of ddr4 ram is required for these days
g
I would take my display setup into account when choosing a GPU. If you're going for 1080p or 1440p, a 3060 should last for a few years.
g
For asetto corsa, i don't think you need a RTX 3060
g
no, but you may enjoy other games too, who knows...
g
Yes
m
a 3060 is better for him
or get amd
g
I thought potassium was a she...
I am so confused right now..
g
She is a "she"...
n
and a PSU
g
right. that too
n
but god damn, why everything so expensive
g
don't have enough experience with the power consumption of those components, so I don't really know what to recommend. My PC is eating a lot, so I've upgraded mine from a 650W to a 1200W. Planning to do a full core upgrade later this year
n
actually I think that gpu prices have come down heaps
g
yeah, GPUs are more accessible now, even though they're still expensive
n
I think my 1070 was $600 when I got it years ago
yeah wow $615 and that 3060 is meant to be heaps better
I'd upgrade if there was anything worth it
g
I don't plan to move to console anytime soon, and I built this thing in 2017.
it's still a very good PC, but it does have some issues, specifically to the motherboard. I'll keep it as a multimedia unit after I do the upgrade.
b
32 gigs will be part of the norm by 2025 and beyond. Expensive upgrade, but future-proof. Don't let anyone fool you.
g
^this is true
b
why a 1050ti
g
Because it's a cheap and good graphic card
b
it sucks as hell i have a 1060 6gb and it sucks it's way too old
g
It depends on the model, there is a 2gb 1050 and a 4gb 1050ti
b
it's a low tier gpu nowdays
g
The 4gb 1050ti is the best between this two
that's way better than a 1050 and it's cheap
g
It's a good choice too
b
get an AMD card instead. you'll thank us later. ie: RX 580
