Hey folks, I just reinstalled Open Hands after about a year of not using it due to work banning "shadow AI". What is the best way to disable any automatic
git
action on the part of the agent? I like to review everything and make the commits and pushes myself.

Interesting question! Could make a fork, and let it work only on the fork? Then you review everything before you cherry-pick or PR or commit to your regular clone
Alternatively, you can write a hook before each tool call, to check Terminal tool and disallow any git commands (and you tell it to write it for you, test it well, etc, before you start using it on work) I'd also review and make sure that no Skill that tells it to work with git or github is enabled (while it won’t always listen, I’d also, to the contrary, add in its AGENTS.md the prohibition) —- The fork and hook are best IMO, deterministic; unless git itself has some way it can’t bypass…

It's surprisingly difficult to add a skill of my own at the user level
seems like the agent accomplished it though
I'm thrilled open hands finally renamed micro agents to skills and is using the spec. That's pretty cool.

Yup. That skill worked.

Was this on app.all-hands.dev/canvas or a local agent-canvas @creamy-angle-16764? I'd love to understand where things got difficult for you and see what we can do to make it not so difficult

@hundreds-twilight-32833 my startup command is:
Copy code
docker run -it --rm \
  -e LOCAL_BACKEND_API_KEY="API_KEY_HERE" \
  -p 127.0.0.1:8000:8000 \
  -v openhands-data:/home/openhands/.openhands \
  -v /Users/jesse/Documents/createthis/sandbox:/projects \
  -v ~/.openhands:/.openhands \
  <http://ghcr.io/openhands/agent-canvas:latest|ghcr.io/openhands/agent-canvas:latest>
I installed the skill via the
/add-skill
, but then I noticed it didn't automatically show up in my skill list and I had to explicitly start a conversation with that skill. That wasn't what I intended, so I asked the agent to install the skill in the
openhands-data
volume and it found the python api and installed it that way.
openhands/sdk/skills/skill.py

Oh I see, I think its a gap in the docs but this should work
Copy code
docker run -it --rm \
  -e LOCAL_BACKEND_API_KEY="API_KEY_HERE" \
  -p 127.0.0.1:8000:8000 \
  -v openhands-data:/home/openhands/.openhands \
  -v ~/.agents:/home/openhands/.agents \
  -v /Users/jesse/Documents/createthis/sandbox:/projects \
  -v ~/.openhands:/.openhands \
  <http://ghcr.io/openhands/agent-canvas:latest|ghcr.io/openhands/agent-canvas:latest>
