I’m thinking of a scenario where you could spawn an automation automatically after another automation completes. Sort of like an event-driven automation, but the event is “automation XYZ has completed” Scenario: A “QA” automation starts once an “Issue to PR” automation completes. Perhaps they both use the same sandbox to keep context and state.

I believe we can already do that but it is not so user-friendly. Do you want to have like a graph where you can chain automations?
l
Yeah, it’s easy to do now if the user knows how to do it by having it trigger on particular github hooks
e
Yes, exactly. Some way to visualize chaining different automations together to ultimately show how your software factory comes alive
l
But probably the users don’t know how to do it. I think one thing we don’t want to do is create another agent orchestration UI, there’s lots of them already and AFAICT people don’t like using them that much
h
Maybe a bit of extra structured data saved to the automation when it has a “next step”. That UI could even show the multiple next steps.
e
Yeah - agree about workflow UIs, they look cool but not sure how much they are actually used. I think what I am trying to solve for this this scenario: • user has created several automations (maybe a dozen+) around their SDLC • things seem to be working, but they want a better way to organize (visually) these automations, maybe around SDLC stages or some other categorization ◦ pain point today: Automations are just a list in the UI Another interesting pain point -- how do you see a given 'task' (say a Jira issue you tag with
openhands
) flow through multiple Automations from start-->finish? Would be interesting if there was a task-centric way to say "this issue/task started with Automation 1 and proceeded successfully all the way through Automation 10"
l
Now that we have apps, I wonder if we can try vibe coding an app, and if it seems useful we can iterate on it?

that's a good idea -- I'm not sure of the exact solution here, so mostly just talking out loud, but Apps does provide a nice way to visualize 'the factory'.

Cc @modern-fireman-99755 we can add this to the factory onboarding once we have the basic flow down
