What do we think about a Notifications feature? Scenario: • I may have an automation that runs on a schedule, or on event. When it does something (like a code review) , I want the option of it also posting a short message to a Notification queue so it can tell me it's completed a task, or it needs user intervention. • With a formal Notification, I can then decide downstream systems to push those notifications to, whether it's a Browser Notification, SMS service, etc. If interesting, I can create a ticket in OpenHands/OpenHands.

This is a tough one. On the surface I like the idea of a notification center. On the implementation side it seems like this is already possible but you need to tell the agent to send an update when something happens. Is the end goal for you to read the notifications on your phone/slack?
e
Yeah basically -- or even getting an email summary of what the agent has done. I think the notifications could come a few ways -- immediately, summaries, etc. Totally agree the agent could be configured to send these notifications (with the right MCP/Secrets configured)

I was just looking at how Claude Code is doing this
(It's Claude Cloud, actually, idk if CC)

Thinking out loud... Maybe something like a "Add to Event Stream" option for automations. It could be a UI element but act like a hook. When an automation run finishes it runs the hook and saves some output to the Event Stream data layer. Then the notification and outputs are whatever is in that Event Stream ui. For the OSS automations Graham found it easier to combine multiple repos into a single automation. So if I could toggle on "Add outputs to Event Stream" or something then I would expect to see an event stream where: - $Thing Happened in $Repo - $Thing Happened in $Repo - $Thing Happened in $Repo Then I might want to configure the notification to be 'Send me an email with all $Things that Happend in $Specific Repo
(This could be too complicated so feel free to push back 😄 )

Just a quick note, I just saw this from Claude Cloud -> push notification on iPad
It normally doesn’t ping me during these runs
