github.com/OpenHands/OpenHands/pull/17242 - agent assisted automation creation this is a stacked pr, i'm going to have openhands run a round of review although welcoming others to take an early peek as well @breezy-kilobyte-39430 there is a concept of "draft automations", and I haven't done a great job displaying it UI wise; could you can have a look at the video below and help me adjust things accordingly
@hundreds-twilight-32833 latest update if you'd like to start playing with it as well, although you'll have to point your automation version to main (as the BE changes there are yet to be released)

Hey Rohit, Wasn't a lot of this UI spec'd in the original branch I made for this? I think it should all be in there
q
I might have missed drafts UI in the specs and if so thats on me, taking a look in a sec The original spec was missing support for plugin and custom automations; I took some creative liberty here would appreciate a review for that
b
S'all good! I'm kinda packed today, when do you need this review by?
q
In the next couple days maybe, hoping to get this merged and released by EOW Also linking a video here QAing the form options
b
Cool, I'll do a sweep this week.
thanks on a stick 1

@elegant-branch-54423 Automations UI ^
e
Awesome! Interested in that Event button 👀
h
Giving it a spin now. Event selected
q
ohh i may not have implemented the test mode for events, ill do that the automation BE now allows seeding dummy events for testing need to make sure its exposed in the UI
h
Oh nice! I like the little animation when openhands is filling out the prompt content 😄

q
yeah felt it was easier to follow the changes was getting lost without it
h
I'll give it a more in depth look tomorrow. Maybe try and coordinate with Paul and you at the same time to do a bit of focused quick review. It would be amazing to see this go in this week

Is this the correct automations PR to work from github.com/OpenHands/automation/pull/417? Its closed?
q
this one its merged to main any latest commits on main branch work too

Whenever I view automations on this branch my automation server crashes
thonk 1
I tried a new docker image as well so it was more isolated and same thing
e
How are the available
Event sources
determined when you select an Event automation?
q
The automation BE will expose event source options if they have been configured; although if its a first time setup the user may want to configure a custom event source, which I didn't account for Updating the automation form so that they can configure a new source optionally
e
Cool - how do they configure an Event Source? Is there a 'library' of existing event sources, or do they need to provide specific config like API Keys (as Secrets) and API docs?
q
Typically if its a custom source they need to define a source name and webhook secret We have more information in the docs here: docs.openhands.dev/openhands/usage/automations/event-automations#…
^ the docs require the user to run curl requests, we're exposing the same capability through UI for convenience as part of this pr
e
ah thanks will look
q
@hundreds-twilight-32833 im not able to repro the automation BE crashing, which version of automation are you using and any error logs you see?
h
Hmm, I'm running from main. Is it not updated with the most recent automations?
q
Automations off main? It should have the latest compatible code
h
I'm retrying
I think we can do a fast follow where clicking a ? could trigger an agent question. Like "what events are available" when you click event ? icon
oooh 1
I may also not fully understand how to set up events. I see the inline error/feedback about not having a webhook set up. Is that just because I'm running locally or would that also happen on a VM?
q
Gotcha, also github should not be a built-in for local deployments i think this has always been a bug In cloud, when the user logs in with github we automatically route github events; locally there is no such authentication. the user needs to manually setup the webhook and the deployment needs to be reachable via a pubic url (e.g using ngrok)
h
Gotcha
I think we'll also want to add the Events/Webhooks view to Automate to help manage that whole aspect. It'll be a lot easier to manage if there is some tiny UI to assist there

q
yeah i think the source options should be a dropdown instead of a freeform + informational tool tips in places should suffice?
h
That might work
I added a few other things I found to the PR as a comment

q
latest head of the stacked PR is here: github.com/OpenHands/OpenHands/pull/17688
would appreciate more feedback as you use it, feel free to comment directly on the PR @hundreds-twilight-32833 i addressed the comments you left earlier

@quick-window-91705 do you have time tomorrow to meet? I have a branch where I'm making corrections to the design and need to go over some of the functionality with you. Part of what I'm trying to do is eliminate the top tabs. There is a button to switch to Custom that I added and adding a plugin is now an option at the bottom in Additional Options. Here's the branch I'm working in but needs some more work before merging: github.com/FraterCCCLXIII/openhands-…l/automation-setup-ui-match
q
yep my calendar is up to date lets sync tmrw, office hours works for me too
