Here's a poem in the style of Dante Alighieri, written in terza rima:
Midway upon the journey of my days,
I found myself within a shadowed wood,
For I had wandered from the steadfast ways.
How hard it is to speak of what I stood,
That forest dark, so bitter and so wild,
That even now the thought renews my blood.
Yet as I walked, a gentle light beguiled,
And led me from the thicket's tangled snare,
Where hope, though faint, upon my spirit smiled.
A guide appeared, serene and passing fair,
Who bade me follow toward the rising sun,
And leave behind the valley of despair.
"Dear pilgrim, fear not what is yet undone;
The path is steep, but grace shall be thy stay,
And at its end, the stars are won."
So onward through the night and toward the day,
I climbed, and left the darkness far behind,
Upon the road that none but love could lay.
For he who seeks shall surely seek to find.
"Amor che move il sole e l'altre stelle." ✨
