Helm chart for deploying Agent Canvas on k8s: github.com/OpenHands/agent-canvas/pull/1641/changes Any objections to getting this merged?
l
My only objection is I don’t really understand the use case for this, what’s this for?
The reason why I’m confused is that it seems to overlap a little bit with OpenHands Enterprise so I’m not sure what I should do about explaining when people should use each?

The pattern @able-napkin-92802 set up in the openhands cloud charts is you could have a subchart component only release using the openhands umbrella chart github.com/OpenHands/…/agent-canvas. So you could set up an agent canvas only release using the openhands umbrella chart. Might be a bit of overhead but that seems to be less overhead than managing a separate chart?

I don't think Robert's PR is something that we want to incorporate into the enterpise installer. It's hosting an agent server in addition to canvas, which is something enterprise installs manage via runtime API.
Also the
openhands-cloud
charts are source available, but not free OSS, so we wouldn't want to point the community at installing agent canvas via those charts.

Thanks @able-napkin-92802
think we can just roll with Robert's PR then
those are compelling reasons to not use the openhands cloud charts here
l
Sorry, maybe I’m being dense here, but what’s the use case for this chart?
w
Were you at demos on friday? I showed it off there
It gets a single-tenant version of OpenHands running in Kubernetes, which is how some will prefer to run it (vs a VM or Docker)
l
no, unfortunately I had a conflict with dinner on friday
w
but doesn't really step on enterprise since agents are still collocated
I'll DM 🙂

Sorry, do I understand correctly, this is a full OSS deployment?
l
Yeah, it’s fully OSS but on Kubernetes
c
I imagined that if we do k8s, it would be a workspace 🤔
l
(tbh it’s a little confusing for me, but Robert is excited about it so I couldn’t say no 😂 )

👍 I set off an agent but it's slow to respond to me; anyway I was mostly concerned that it doesn't bump into proprietary stuff Coincidentally, speaking of alternative deployments, I just saw Daytona is releasing a "VM sandbox" 😅 I'm so curious to try it, I don't know yet why they call it "VM sandbox" as it appears to be... a VM

Yeah this is OSS only 🙂 It's a minimum viable kubernetes deployment--it runs agent-canvas similarly to how you'd run it on a VM.
