All my conversations are gone
# proj-agent-canvas

All my conversations are gone 😕
seems like convo dir switched ~/.openhands/agent-canvas/conversations to ~/.openhands/v1_conversations/
we need to be careful about swaps like that
h
Is that documented or noted somewhere? Looking for the source of this now
I couldn't find anything in agent-canvas that should have done that 😕
w
my workspaces disappeared too...
h
I don't think workspaces got migrated to settings yet so that should still be coming from local storage?
w
I'm pretty sure it's out of localstorage but not certain
h
Oh you're right I missed that
w
looks like we changed from ~/.openhands/agent-canvas to ~/.openhands/ as the base dir
m
Yes.
OH_PERSISTENCE_DIR
moved from
~/.openhands/agent-canvas
to
~/.openhands
(https://github.com/OpenHands/agent-canvas/pull/960). Everything hangs off that env var, software-agent-sdk's agent-server uses the same
OH_PERSISTENCE_DIR
for settings/secrets/workspaces (workspaces.json), that's why workspaces disappeared too (and they're server-side, not localStorage).
c
Yes… Switching to ~/.openhands/ seems like the correct change… But I don’t understand this ~/.openhands/v1_conversations
It should be just ~/.openhands/conversations
w
it's actually ~/.openhands/dev_conversations?
nod 1
v1_conversations was a red herring
c
TBH I would like to place them all in
~/.openhands/conversations
if we can. In my understanding, the reason to separate them was that those in docker won’t have the right paths so cannot really be restored directly. If so, an alternative could maybe be: put them in the same location, but save the backend (“docker”), display it as a badge in the list, and warn the user they’re on a different backend if they try to restore/continue?
