Who is interested in discussing worktree management? The default right now is to use worktrees for all local dev, but this is confusing and non-obvious. I think worktrees should probably be opt-in I also think we need a way to easily move work between the worktree and the main workspace--right now I tell the agent to do this, but a UI toggle would be nice

This is how you enable/disable with claude code app

Right, I think we add it to the bottom row where repo and branch live, wouldn't it make sense for default on? Why would you not want to support worktrees? Especially with more agents working via automation?
h
It can be a huge pain if you are working on...say the agent-canvas and you want to see your changes in the browser
w
let's copy claude code app as much as possible 🙂
my concern is more that users will be like "hey wtf where is my work"
because they may not understand the concept of worktrees
b
I see

I do think automations should default to worktrees though
but yeah let's do some research on what other webapps do for worktrees and copy
my flow right now is to get all the agents working in worktrees, and then one by one I tell them to move their work into the main workspace so I can see it live

Codex

can you change the toggle mid-conversation?

Codex app/CLI and even GPT-5.x seem to work pretty well with worktrees
h
Yea codex seems to do some hybrid worktree magic. It runs a lot in the background that you don't see.
