another bug: • right panel defaults to "closed" on refresh ◦ at the very least we need to remember what state the user had it in and preserve that across refreshes ◦ IMO it should default to open state for new users. Helps w/ discoverability, and helps solidify that this is not just a chat--it's code.

> right panel defaults to "closed" on refresh I think @millions-afternoon-47582 implemented custom tool for agent-controlled UI (e.g., navigate to file, switch tab) We could by default hide, and expand the tab when the agent is trying to user something (eg a rendenred markdown file) https://github.com/OpenHands/agent-canvas/issues/400
or we could just make that configurable, i actually prefer to have it closed though
w
heck yes I wanted to do the same thing!
we will need a way for the user to "pin" though, to stop the agent from mucking about when they're trying to look at something
this will be tricky to get right
c
it could be a similar experience in "Zed", there's "follow the agent" checkbox
👍 1
when it is checked, the window follows where agent go
when it unchecked, you can just go to whereever you like; and the agent's location will be highlight with some color / icon

This is going to sound strange. Just want to note down this thought. Is this really necessary?
File / Diff / Rich / Plain.
I've been playing a lot local-only, and I just don't seem to need a web page to show me yet-another-diff (tm). I already have a diff if I want it. I may want a link or button, to: • either open, if configured • or tell the local agent to open e.g. VS Code or something
w
I find the rich preview VERY helpful
and diff view is particularly helpful in cloud
but agree it's less important in local
but personally I run my agent-server on a VM, and I'm not normally SSHed in
so the files view is the only real place for me to see what's going on
c
Rich preview for markdown?
w
I use it mainly for HTML prototypes
c
Just wondering, if it’s HTML, couldn’t the agent just serve it?
c
yeah that's just one more (probably unnecessary) step
i actually like the fact now you can just browse the workspace and click open any markdown/html and see it rendered
c
I asked the agent to serve the html page it made 🙏
It… worked 😇
