@nutritious-balloon-65098 Investigate the codebase of V1 app server: note that the code is a bit chaotic in this repo, it has both the legacy version, V0, code, and a lot of it, and V1 code, an app server. The V1 code is on the execution path of openhands/app_server. Does V1 use
~/.openhands/agent_settings.json ?

I'm on it! Mamoodi can track my progress here.
## Summary of Investigation I investigated whether the V1 app server uses
~/.openhands/agent_settings.json
. Answer: No, V1 does NOT use
~/.openhands/agent_settings.json
.
### Key Findings: 1. No
agent_settings.json
references exist
- I searched the entire codebase and found zero references to "agent_settings.json" 2. V1 uses a different settings mechanism: - Settings are loaded through
UserContext
→
AuthUserContext.get_user_info()
→
user_auth.get_user_settings()
- Uses
SettingsStore
abstraction with implementations like
FileSettingsStore
3. FileSettingsStore (
openhands/storage/settings/file_settings_store.py
): - Hardcoded to use
path: str = 'settings.json'
(line 17) - This is relative to the file store, not specifically
~/.openhands/agent_settings.json
4. The legacy V0 code (in
openhands/core/config/utils.py
): - Marked as "Legacy-V0" with deprecation notice - Mentions
~/.openhands/settings.json
in comments (line 855) - This is NOT on the V1 execution path Conclusion: V1 does not use or reference
agent_settings.json
. The user may be thinking of the legacy V0 config file or a different file. If they need V1 configuration, they should use
config.toml
or the database-backed settings system.

Thank you! Out of curiosity, what LLM were you using? “if they need V1 configuration, they should use config.toml” < this is incorrect. Little OpenHands is sooo confused in that codebase 😅
