Something is up. When I try to
@ OpenHands
on github i only have one option of
@openhands-agent
but that doesn't work anymore I noticed Juan is able to
@ openhands
in a way I can't. Does it have something to do with my GitHub settings thinky spin OpenHands has access to ALL my repos not a select amount.
@nutritious-balloon-65098 do you have an idea of what is causing this? has someone else reported this problem in a github issue before? do i need to do something else?
n
I'm on it! Jamie can track my progress here.
## Final Summary I researched your issue with the GitHub @mention for OpenHands and found the answer: What was causing the problem: You only have the GitHub App installed (
@openhands-agent
), but to use the shorter
@openhands
mention, you need to add your repositories through the OpenHands Cloud interface (app.all-hands.dev), not just rely on the GitHub App installation. Whether this was reported before: Yes - Issue #10621 on GitHub addressed this exact scenario where someone was trying to use @openhands but could only see @openhands-agent. What you need to do: 1. Go to https://app.all-hands.dev 2. Add your GitHub repositories using the "+ Add GitHub Repos" button 3. Once added,
@openhands
will become available in issues/PRs for those repositories This is why Juan can use
@openhands
- they've added their repos through OpenHands Cloud, while you only have the GitHub App installed without the Cloud repo selection. No code changes were made as this was an information/research question.

## Summary I researched your issue about GitHub @mention not working properly. Here's what I found: The Problem: You only see
@openhands-agent
but not
@openhands
in the autocomplete. Root Cause: These are two different integrations: -
@openhands-agent
- The GitHub App you installed -
@openhands
- Requires OpenHands Cloud (app.all-hands.dev) with repositories explicitly added through their interface What you need to do: 1. Go to https://app.all-hands.dev 2. Add your repositories through the "+ Add GitHub Repos" dropdown in the repository selector 3. For PRs, the repo must be added on both the "to" and "from" sides Try this first: Just type
@openhands
directly in a comment (without waiting for autocomplete) - it may work even if it doesn't show in the autocomplete dropdown. If that doesn't work: Try revoking and re-granting permissions via Settings > Integrations in OpenHands Cloud, then re-add your repos. This is why Juan can use
@openhands
- they've added repos through OpenHands Cloud, while you may have only installed the GitHub App without the Cloud repo configuration step.

@nutritious-balloon-65098 interesting just @ openhands wihtout selecting from the drop menu worked why doesn't it apepar in the drop menu? that's a weird UX is that how GH handles it?

## Summary This was a troubleshooting conversation about a GitHub UX issue, not a code change request. Here's what was addressed: The Problem: - User could only see
@openhands-agent
in GitHub autocomplete, not
@openhands
- Someone else (Juan) could use
@openhands
but the user couldn't Investigation: - Researched GitHub issues (#5892, #10621) related to this - Reviewed OpenHands documentation on GitHub integration - Identified that
@openhands-agent
(GitHub App) and
@openhands
(Cloud) are two different integrations Solution Found: - User confirmed that typing
@openhands
directly (without selecting from dropdown) works - Explained why it doesn't appear in autocomplete: GitHub only shows GitHub Apps in the dropdown, not cloud integrations that work via webhook/API Answer: No code changes were made. The user solved their issue by typing
@openhands
directly in the comment instead of waiting for autocomplete. The UX limitation is on GitHub's side - cloud-based mentions don't appear in the autocomplete dropdown even though they work when typed manually.

TBH I find it annoying too, UX-wise, and people keep getting confused by it (including me)

I know; unfortunately seems to be a github issue sadblob
