I'd love your thoughts on it. We change the public API, and we are trying to give a deprecation period when that happens.

In this case though... I don't know how many were different than defaults and if it really breaks anything for client code

Yes, IMHO it's important in cases when public API changes are: removing methods, changing function signatures, renaming classes. Then we need to keep the old ones for a while (deprecated) :thinking_face:

Maybe just notification e.g. in the release notes, will do in this case...

:nod: i'll cut a patch release first today before we include this in the next minor release, in case there're bugs..
