in openhands (web version) - can I not refer to the active terminal in the vscode session in my conversation?

If your using `--network host`then the container's vscode web instance is exposed on hostname:8001 (otherwise its a dynamic port #) You can access vscode terminal from that window. You can also access vscode terminal inside the conversation window but things are cramped there.
