Hey folks. A while ago I was asking in the questions channel if there is any way I can start the OpenHands local GUI without docker and use the local runtime. @limited-student-10747 told me that I can try using
Copy code
export INSTALL_DOCKER=0
export RUNTIME=local
make build && make run
to start the local GUI with local runtime. After I tried the local runtime, I found that there are problems with their previous configuration. I raised two issues regarding the local runtime and two PRs on fixing them. issue: https://github.com/OpenHands/OpenHands/issues/12011 pr: https://github.com/OpenHands/OpenHands/pull/12012 issue: https://github.com/OpenHands/OpenHands/issues/12014 pr: https://github.com/OpenHands/OpenHands/pull/12015 Would appreciate it if someone could take a look and let me know if this is a reasonable direction for supporting the local GUI + local runtime (without Docker). Thanks!

Hey @flaky-engineer-19286, thanks so much for this! We’re in the process of transitioning from OpenHands v0 (with agent code in the
OpenHands/OpenHands
repo) to OpenHands v1 (with agent code in the
OpenHands/software-agent-sdk
repo). I think OpenHands v1 solves both of these issues, so if transitioning over to using v1 is an option that may be sufficient
That being said, we might continue supporting v0 for a while (cc @better-park-34863) so it could be worth getting these in anyway

I think this is a bit in flux right now, sorry, as Graham said. You may want to take a look at this code, which is from V1 https://github.com/OpenHands/OpenHands/blob/main/openhands/app_server/sandbox/process_sandbox_service.py

Thank u guys so much, I'll take a look at this code and see if there is anything I can help.❤️
